There’s a funny thing about midlife — it can make you feel as if you’ve missed the train to somewhere fabulous. You look around and see people doing things you once dreamed of: launching businesses, travelling the world, posting perfect smoothie bowls on Instagram. Meanwhile, you’re wondering if you remembered to turn off the iron or the oven (like I did).
But here’s the truth no one tells us enough: you’re not behind. You’re just on a different schedule.
Midlife isn’t a deadline. It’s a design phase. A second phase of life — one where you finally know which parts of yourself are non-negotiable. The things that once seemed urgent (pleasing everyone, climbing ladders, saying yes to everything) start to lose their shine. And that’s a blessing, not a crisis.
If your 20s were about proving yourself, and your 30s about surviving yourself, then midlife is about becoming yourself — fully, unapologetically, joyfully.
So, if today feels messy or meandering, remember: the path you’re on isn’t late. It’s yours. Every twist is bringing you closer to who you were always meant to be.
Take a breath, sip your coffee, and celebrate that you’ve made it here — wiser, braver, and far more interesting than you were at 25.
You’re not late to life’s party. You just showed up fashionably on time. ✨
