Goji Berries, The Tiny Superfood With a Big Punch

My latest discovery is the Goji berry. This arose from a chance meeting with an eye doctor who told me about her daily habit of putting Goji berries into her drinks and breakfast. So, I went out and bought some.

For the last week, I have been chucking a handful of these ripe and red berries in the mornings into a teacup of warm water and sipping it for an hour and into my cereal. I also add Chia seeds and can testify that this makes a delicious and attractive to eat and drink breakfast.

My mornings have taken on a a warm and cosy experience with a feeling of almost being a religious ritual.

These little red berries that look like jewels have been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. They’re rich in antioxidants, packed with vitamin C, and contain beta-carotene (the same stuff that makes carrots good for your eyes). Some studies even suggest they can support immune health, improve sleep, and help with energy levels.

Are they a miracle cure? No. But adding a small handful of Goji berries into your week is a simple way to layer more nutrients into your diet. And isn’t that what wellness is really about—tiny steps that add up over time?

So, here’s my wellness challenge for you: pick up a bag of Goji berries and see how many ways you can sprinkle them into your meals. Your body (and tastebuds) might just thank you.

P/S: I am not a nutritionist and am only recommending what works for me but my research on Goji berries has come up with the following caveat: Goji berries may trigger an allergic reaction in rare cases, especially in individuals who are allergic to other fruits. Additionally, Goji berries may interact with certain drugs, including blood thinners and medications for diabetes or high blood pressure.
