What does Midlife feel like for you in your mid stage of life? Are you at cross roads pondering with excitement upon your next phase and what to do or are you digesting the tripe constantly being thrown at older people in the form of ageism?
How about we rewrite the narrative and consider that Midlife is a power surge? That this is the time when wisdom meets confidence, a time of growth, reinvention, and stepping into our true selves with confidence, and we finally start putting ourselves first without guilt.
For years, we’ve been fed the idea that success, beauty, and opportunity have an expiration date. That if we haven’t “made it” by a certain age, we’ve somehow missed the boat.
But here’s the truth: There is no boat. There is no deadline. Everything is still up for grabs.
Midlife is when we stop worrying about what others expect and start focusing on what we truly want. Maybe you’re switching careers, launching a business, rediscovering a passion, or just learning to say no without guilt. And that’s exciting! We’re no longer bound by the pressures of youth; we’re fueled by experience and a deep understanding of who we are.
Yes, there are challenges—energy levels fluctuate, bodies change, and sometimes self-doubt creeps in. But midlife isn’t about fading into the background; it’s about stepping into your power. It’s about embracing the journey, whether that means taking bold steps or simply choosing joy in the everyday moments.

So, if you’re feeling like time is running out, let me remind you: You are not too late. You are right on time. The life you want is still waiting for you, and you have everything you need to go after it.
This is a message that I need to remind myself of too. Ageism is rife and it’s easy to, consciously and subconsciously, absorb negative messages as we grow older. For the past few days I have been stuck in a rut feeling overwhelmed with a lack of energy after fighting the flu and feeling blah about the ageing process. Changing my mindset and reminding myself that being a midlifer is a superpower in itself was a great help and leveller.
So, let’s start this week with that mindset.
Let’s embrace where we are, laugh at the outdated idea that midlife means slowing down (unless this is genuinely what you seek), and step into the week like the fabulous, unstoppable force we are.
