I have an interest in leadership styles but am constantly frustrated by how leadership is a word associated firmly and squarely with the workplace. Terms such as ‘boss babe’ and ‘woman boss’ might be great gender defining labels of achievements but, think about this, these labels aren’t used outside the corporate world or any workplace.
Every woman has innate leadership qualities, I believe, and we demonstrate these in spaces that we inhabit outside of the office – home, in our friendship circles, in the home organising the family. Being a boss babe in the corporate world is only one avenue for feminine leadership. Outside of this domain our possibilities are endless.
For too long, leadership has been defined by masculine traits—assertiveness, dominance, and competition. While these qualities have their place, midlife women bring something just as powerful to the table: emotional intelligence, collaboration, intuition, and resilience.

Feminine leadership isn’t about excluding men or rejecting traditional leadership; it’s about redefining it in a way that values balance, inclusivity, and authenticity.
Midlife is the perfect time to step into leadership. We’ve spent decades juggling careers, families, relationships, and personal growth. We’ve developed wisdom, patience, and an innate ability to navigate life’s challenges.
Midlife is a powerful time for women. We’ve spent years balancing work, family, and the endless demands of life. Now, as we step into a new phase, it’s time to embrace a different kind of leadership—feminine leadership—one that values collaboration, empathy, and wisdom gained from experience.
Why shouldn’t we harness these strengths to lead with confidence and purpose?
The world is shifting—people are craving leaders who are empathetic, authentic, and adaptable. That’s where feminine leadership shines.
Embracing feminine leadership doesn’t mean conforming to outdated stereotypes or softening our approach. It means leading with both strength and compassion. It means creating spaces where people feel heard, understood, and empowered. It’s about using our voices to influence change, whether in our careers, communities, or personal lives.
In posts going forward I will explore what it means to be a feminine leader in midlife and how we can embrace this role with confidence. We’ll discuss mindset shifts, practical strategies, and real-life examples of women who are leading in ways that feel true to themselves.
Whether you’re retired, a stay at home housewife, an entrepreneur, a corporate professional, a community leader, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, feminine leadership is a powerful tool to step into your full potential.

It’s time for midlife women to own their leadership style—on our terms, in our way.
