Thrilled To Be Awarded An MBE In The Honours List 2023

It is my greatest honour, privilege and blessing to have been awarded an MBE in the King’s first New Year’s Honours list.

I work in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as a very proud civil servant. I firmly believe in public service as an enabler for people’s wellbeing in all senses e.g physical, prosperity.

The award recognises my work to the marine sector where I worked for 4 years. I am currently serving as an Assistant Director overseeing Accountancy and Shareholder Rights Reform.

In the photo I am holding a piece of paper on which my dearly departed father, John Chelliah, wrote a prayer for me to recite. I do. The Blue hat belongs to a woman who was like a mum to me. She died in 2019 aged 100 and was awarded an MBE in the 1970s.

Remembering those who helped one along their journey of success is an integral part of being a human being. I dedicate my award to my father, John Chelliah, who always encouraged me to reach for the stars; and to Rosa Wright who always believed in me.

My deepest thanks to my department and the Civil Service for recognising my efforts and achievements.
